Operations executive resume format
Operations executive is one of the broadest titles in India — warehouse, logistics, distribution, back-office processing — so the resume has to say which kind in the headline and prove it with process metrics: volume a day, on-time percentage, accuracy, turnaround, cost recovered. Operations heads read for a before-and-after number in each bullet and for the systems you worked in. The sample is a three-year executive in third-party logistics.

Common mistakes on operations executive resumes
- Daily duties with no number attached
- "Responsible for daily dispatch and coordination with transporters" is the job description. Give the volume and the metric: "Dispatch 1,200 shipments a day across 18 transporters; on-time dispatch up from 91% to 98.6% in a year."
- Not saying which operations
- Put the kind of operations in the headline and company description — 3PL warehouse, FMCG distribution, order processing, facilities. A recruiter searching for warehouse experience cannot find it under a bare "Operations Executive".
- Before-and-after missing
- Operations work is improvement, so show the starting point: put-away 9 hours to 6, returns 3.2% to 1.9%, order-to-delivery 36 to 24 hours. A single final number without the starting one cannot be judged.
- Systems left to the skills list
- Name the WMS, ERP or TMS inside a bullet doing something ("weekly cycle count on 6,500 SKUs in SAP MM, accuracy 99.4%"). Postings filter on SAP, Oracle or a WMS by name, and a bullet proves you used it rather than saw it.
- Money ignored because the role is not finance
- Bills reconciled, claims recovered, transporter cost per shipment, manpower cost saved: operations executives touch money every week. One rupee figure per role shows you understand that the process has a cost.
Questions about the operations executive resume format
- What metrics should an operations executive resume show?
- Volume per day or month, on-time percentage, accuracy (inventory, orders, bills), turnaround times, SLA adherence, cost recovered or saved, and headcount or vehicles coordinated. Give a starting value and an end value wherever you can; the improvement is the evidence.
- Does an operations executive resume need SAP or a WMS?
- Name whatever system you actually worked in — SAP MM, Oracle, Tally, a WMS or TMS, or even a distributor ERP — and what you did in it. Many postings list one by name as a filter. If you have only used Excel and Google Sheets, say what you built in them rather than inflating a tool you have not used.
- How should an operations executive resume handle back-office or process roles rather than logistics?
- The same structure with different metrics: transactions processed a day, accuracy, turnaround time, SLA adherence, queries resolved and backlog cleared. Name the process (KYC, claims, order management, vendor payments) in the headline, since that is what a recruiter searches for.
- Is a Six Sigma or supply chain certification worth adding to an operations executive resume?
- A Yellow or Green Belt, or an NPTEL supply chain course, supports a resume whose bullets already show improvement work; it does not substitute for them. Put it after education. For senior supply chain roles, CSCP or an MBA in operations carries more weight than a short certificate.
