Common mistakes on B.Tech fresher resumes
- Listing every subject from the syllabus as a skill
- Keep the languages and tools you have actually built something with. A recruiter will ask about any of them; ten honest skills beat thirty names.
- Projects with no outcome
- Say what the project did, who used it and what you built in it. "Built the API and database for an ordering app used by 180 students" says more than a list of technologies.
- A long career objective
- Two or three lines of summary: your degree, the strongest thing you have done, and the kind of role you want. The objective paragraph that fills a quarter of the page is skipped.
- Two pages for one year of experience
- A fresher's resume is one page. If it spills over, trim Class X details, repeated coursework and the hobbies list before anything else.
- Forgetting the declaration
- Many Indian employers and placement forms still expect a signed declaration at the end. Turn it on in the editor; it prints after the last section with your place and date.

- What is the best resume format for a B.Tech fresher?
- A one-page, single-column resume in this order: name and contact details, a short summary, education with CGPA, skills, projects, internships, certifications, and a declaration. Education comes before experience because it is your strongest evidence until you have worked for a few years.
- Should a fresher resume include a photo?
- Not unless the company asks. Most IT and product companies in India do not expect one, and a photo takes space that a project description would use better. The sample above has no photo; the template has a slot for one if a form requires it.
- What if I have no internship?
- Lead with projects. Two well-described projects, one of them with real users (a college club, a hostel, a family business), carry a fresher resume. Add relevant coursework, a hackathon or an NPTEL certification below them.
