Python developer resume format
"Python developer" covers backend services, scripting, data pipelines and automation, and a posting usually means one of them. The resume should say which: the framework (Django, FastAPI, Flask), the database, and what the code handled — rows a day, requests, minutes saved. At two or three years, a project real people use still earns its place beside the job. The sample below is a three-year developer at a Hyderabad analytics product.

Sample Python developer resume, as text
Python Developer · Django, FastAPI
Summary
Python developer with 3 years building Django and FastAPI services for a retail-analytics product, after a six-month internship. Has owned an ingestion pipeline that loads about 2 million rows a day, cut a nightly report job from 55 minutes to 9, and keeps a 300-test pytest suite green in CI. Maintains an open-source Django app used by three clinics. Looking for a backend Python role.
Experience
Python Developer · Saffron Analytics
Hyderabad · Jul 2023 – Present
- Build and maintain the FastAPI services that ingest about 2 million rows of sales data a day from 14 client store chains into PostgreSQL.
- Cut the nightly Django report job from 55 minutes to 9 by replacing per-row ORM calls with bulk queries and moving the heavy steps to Celery workers.
- Wrote the pytest suite for the ingestion service (310 tests, 85% coverage) and wired it into the GitHub Actions pipeline, so a failing test blocks the deploy.
- Containerised the three backend services with Docker and documented local setup; a new developer's first day went from two days to an afternoon.
Software Development Intern · Orbit Labs
Hyderabad · Jan 2023 – Jun 2023
- Built a Django admin tool for tagging 40,000 product images, used daily by a team of 12 annotators.
- Automated the weekly QA report with a Python script and Pandas, saving the team about 4 hours a week.

Telugu news digest bot
Telegram bot (FastAPI, Redis, a scheduled scraper) that sends a morning digest of Telugu news headlines; 400 subscribers after six months.

Common mistakes on Python developer resumes
- "Python developer" with no framework in sight
- Postings ask for Django, FastAPI or Flask by name, and a screen filters on that word. Put the framework in the headline and the skills section, and make at least one bullet show it doing real work: "FastAPI services that ingest 2 million rows a day."
- Scripts described as if they were systems
- A one-off script is fine to list, but say what it saved: "Automated the weekly QA report with Pandas, saving 4 hours a week" is honest and specific. Calling it a "data pipeline framework" invites a question you will not enjoy.
- Only college projects after three years of work
- Replace the final-year project with something from the last two years — an open-source app, a bot, a tool a team adopted — and give its users. If the job itself produced nothing you can show, drop the projects section rather than fill it with old work.
- No testing or deployment anywhere
- A Python developer who writes pytest and ships through CI is a different hire from one who runs scripts locally. One bullet with the test count and coverage and one that names Docker or the CI tool answer the question before it is asked.
Questions about the Python developer resume format
- Should a Python developer resume list Django and FastAPI if I have only used one at work?
- List the one you used at work under skills and show it in a bullet. The other belongs there only if you have built and shipped something with it, even a side project — then the project is the evidence. A framework in the skills list with nothing behind it is the first interview question.
- How does a Python developer resume differ from a data analyst or data scientist one?
- By what the bullets measure. A developer's resume counts requests, rows, runtime and test coverage; an analyst's counts decisions and dashboards; a data scientist's counts model metrics. If your work is a mix, lead with the kind of role you are applying for and keep the other as one bullet or a project.
- How much does an AWS certification help a Python developer resume?
- A little, and mostly for roles that mention AWS in the posting. The Cloud Practitioner certificate shows you know the services' names; a bullet that deploys a service to EC2 or stores files in S3 shows you have used them. Have the bullet first, the certificate second.
- Is two to three years of experience enough for a Python developer to drop the summary?
- Keep it, but make it three sentences: years and stack, one or two measured results, and the role you want. Recruiters read the summary first on Naukri; a resume that opens with the skills list makes them hunt for the years of experience.
